Connecticut’s AI Bill Passed the House
The pattern broke.
Earlier this week, I wrote about SB5 (Connecticut’s AI bill) and whether the House would even bring it up.
Last year, the Senate passed a real AI bill with teeth and the House just let it sit there until the session ended. There was no vote, it just disappeared. It’s a pattern you see more than you think.
But today, the House passed SB5 anyway… 131 to 17.
And now it goes to Governor Ned Lamont, who’s expected to sign it.
For the first time, Connecticut actually gets an AI law through both chambers. This is a huge moment.
The story doesn’t end here, though.
Big Tech is already pushing back. Just this week, a trade group sued the state of Minnesota over a similar law. There’s also talk of a federal preemption from the Trump administration that would entirely wipe out all state laws on this issue.
But today the bill passed. Now we’ll see if it sticks.
More soon.
